Client: Small Business Administration, Office of Disaster Assistance (ODA)

The Challenge

ODA wanted to replace the existing, 15-year old, legacy loan processing system used to provide financial assistance to victims of floods, hurricanes, and other natural disasters with a robust state-of-art, platform-based technology that would provide new functionality, enhanced responsiveness, and faster throughput.

Our Approach

Transitioning from traditional software development practices, TSPi applied SAFe best practice methodologies to successfully modernize the DCMS, which was the first Agile development and first Cloud development project at SBA ODA. TSPi designed a streamlined solution that targeted system functionality to improve user experience. Our team built the DCMS system on the Salesforce Service Cloud Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering which included both standard, out-of-the-box functionality as well as custom configuration and code development to satisfy the systems requirements.

Results

Achieving improved survivor and user experience, increasing the scalability, flexibility and maintainability of the system, providing faster loan processing, reducing worker effort per loan through targeted automation, and improving system controls to reduce fraud, waste and abuse. To date, DCMS 2 has more than doubled average loan officer productivity, improved peak intake capacity by more than 3x, and demonstrated dramatic improvements in program agility.
